How to Choose a Great Dentist: Make a Consultation Appointment

There are a lot of aspects to choosing the right dentist, but I believe that this one is by far the most important part of the process. I always recommend requesting a risk-free consultation appointment in order to evaluate whether a particular dental office is a great fit for your needs.

As a patient, you have every right to evaluate a healthcare provider before committing to their care. You are entitled to meet personally with the dentist and discuss your situation without having to commit to a “dental exam.” Most offices will be glad to make a consultation appointment. (If they say no, then that tells you something important about that dentist’s interest in patients as people, not just teeth!)

A consultation appointment gives you an opportunity to personally talk with the dentist and decide if he or she is a good match for you. It also gives your new dentist a chance to get to know you as a person and truly understand your needs and concerns, before you ever sit in a dental chair.

Do you have questions about selecting a great dentist, either in the Kansas City area or elsewhere? I would be honored to assist you personally with a referral, as I know many dentists around the world because of my membership and leadership in several dental organizations. Please don’t hesitate to call me at (816) 587-6444 or email me at drdeyton@drdeyton.com.

I think making a consultation appointment when meeting any medical professional is a great idea, so I don’t see why a dentist would be any different. My wife and I just moved to a new area, so we are actually looking for a new dental office ourselves. We’ll definitely have to do this so we can decide if he or she is a good match for us.
